TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for over 30 years, teaching grades 1 - 4. I have also taught adults in graduate school courses as well as been a leader in staff development. I am a certificated bilingual teacher currently assigned as a Teacher on Special Assignment as a Math Coach. I have also served as: • bilingual resource teacher • literacy coach • mentor teacher • conference presenter I have never "stood still" with my teaching and am always learning and applying new ways and strategies. Check out my newest resources for Google Classroom! I've taught in a 1:1 Chromebook classroom. I used the Chromebooks daily with my students. I was also fortunate to have 8 iPads that I used for small groups such as, Guided Reading.

MY TEACHING STYLE

When it comes to math instruction, I was heavily influenced by Piagetian principles of early childhood development. I was trained in Math Their Way® which directly influenced my teaching. I believe young students in grades preschool through 5th need a hands-on approach to learning mathematics. My classrooms were always filled with math manipulatives and other objects that we used to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide. Now as a Math Coach, I take that same approach when training staff.
