TEACHING EXPERIENCE

We have a combined 37 years experience in education, with most of that in middle school science!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Science is getting your hands dirty, thinking outside of the box, challenging and altogether awesome! We like to incorporate activities that not only get out students moving and shaking, but also thinking, achieving, and questioning each other.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

One of the chicks, Stephanie, was just honored as the 2018 Teacher of the Year here at Lincolnton Middle School!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Met in 3rd grade and became the best of friends. We beat Donkey Kong on the original Nintendo, ate our weight in Burger King chicken sandwiches (plain), and dropped the mic before it was cool. Our adventures would take us to college together at THE University of North Carolina at Charlotte ~ Go 49ers! Stephanie graduated with a BA in middle grades education with concentrations in science and social studies. Missy graduated with a BA in elementary education with concentration in science and an MEd in K-12 literacy education. Now almost 25 years later we've joined forces again, without the glitter and big hair, to bring you our take on teaching 8th grade science.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Our philosophy is that learning can be both challenging and fun, even during review. Check back often as we begin to add innovative and thinking-stretching ideas to prepare students for scientifically awesome experiences.
