My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education. I have a kindergarten through eighth with ESL certification. My years of teaching experience include preschool through eighth grade as well as adult education responsibilities. My volunteer commitments have provided me opportunities to tutor and mentor high school students both here in the U.S. and overseas.
My teaching style emphasizes student-centered learning placing responsibility on the students for their own learning through the setting of strategic goals I plan and provide standards based instruction which includes group activities that facilitate active learning, student-to-student collaboration and problem solving. Student learning takes place through situations and activities that require student processing that results in depth of understanding, lessons designed with high levels of engagement, complex thinking at higher levels and application of content in creative and original ways.
