task-based, communicative, a little silly and goofy
1989: Initiation into the Phi Sigma Iota International Foreign Language Honor Society 2003: Senior Teacher status - At my school this requires quite a bit of hoop jumping, scrutiny and evaluation.

Hermon summer abroad program in Valladolid, Spain (lived with Spanish family who I just got to visit again last summer!) / 1989 BA, Rutgers University / 1987-88 Jr. Year Abroad Florence, Italy / International House ELE Teacher Training program summer 2013, Barcelona
I am thoroughly passionate about languages and cultures. Ever since I was a teen and got to live in Spain for a summer with a Spanish family, my wanderlust will not quit! I am a Cuban salsa fanatic and have danced Casino and Rueda in many cities around the world. I have also really enjoyed teaching Rueda as an elective class to my Middle Schoolers who absolutely love it! (You can see these adorable little dancers if you search Maui Salsa Kids on YouTube. Soooo cute!) These past 15 years teaching on Maui have been fantastic and I'm now taking a huuuuge leap of faith and exploring another passion: health and wellness. It's fun to be a student again as I train to become a Health Coach and I'm also loving teaching people about therapeutic use of essential oils! I hope that through Teachers Pay Teachers, all of the expertise I've developed in my many years of teaching can help to keep me afloat financially in this transition to a new career path. I have 15 years' worth of lesson plans and interesting ideas saved on my computer and I'm hoping that by sharing them on Teachers Pay Teachers, it can be a win-win where I can help new teachers (and even veteran) spice up their lessons while I earn some income during this "in between" phase.
