Graduate of Oberlin College (BA) and University of Texas at Austin (PhD). Taught in Eanes ISD both middle school and high school for 25 years and am currently teaching writing at Austin Community College. I have written and published twenty-six articles on Language Arts pedagogy and have made presentations at 26 conferences both state and national.
I have an eclectic teaching style tending toward student-based instruction and inquiry learning. My style is constantly enhanced and modified by current research and theory. At the same time all of my teaching is contingent, that is responsive to the students who are in my class at the time.
Awards include Outstanding Secondary Teacher of the Year (in Texas, 2003-2004) and local Spirit of Education award (1983) and Golden Apple award (2002 and 2007).
