TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for 17 years. The last 3 years have been in a contained classroom of grades 6-8 students with autism. I love the flexibility and fun that we have in our classroom as we learn both academics and life skills.

MY TEACHING STYLE

If students don't feel safe and comfortable taking risks, they won't learn. Therefore I try to provide my students with a balance between academic and personal skills development. I've learned over the years that once a child has a good self-esteem, then the academic "pushing" can begin. :)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

See my students try new things and succeed with smiles on their faces....that's my AWARD! :)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Since I was a student in grade 4, volunteering with kids my age with Cerebral Palsy, I've known that I wanted to teach kids that are "UNIQUE!"
