Previously known as Up and Away in 4th Grade, but with my movement to 5th grade, my new store name is Up and Away in 5th Grade. From the time I entered school I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I had the aspiration of attending Illinois State University and participating in the Elementary Education program there. It was the most rewarding experience. I was blessed with an unforgettable student teaching experience and an amazing mentor. I participated in a year-long student teaching experience which I owe much of who I am to. I have taught 4th grade for two years in a rural school and am blessed to be moving up with my 14 students to 5th grade next year. This past year myself and two other teachers formed PBIS team. . Already we have seen a huge impact in our school. Together we teach and learn!
From starting off with 27 students during my student teaching experience to having nine my first year of teaching I have found that I need to be flexible and intuitive. I love to embrace the students sense of imagination and discovery. I base much of my teaching on student interaction and hands-on learning experiences.

I grew up and attended school in a town of 1800 people in Central Illinois. In 5th grade my grade school closed down and we had to consolidate with a bigger nearby school district. I feel like this experience contributed a lot to my love for small country schools. I received my bachelor of Science from Illinois State University in 2015 and recently started my Masters program from ISU.
