This is my 26th year teaching. I live in gorgeous northern Michigan, and have taught 6th grade for two years, 3rd grade for 20 years, and now 4th grade.
I work hard to create a kind, caring atmosphere in my classroom. I have high expectations for my students and we work and learn together to meet goals. Technology is a passion of mine, so we utilize our Chromebooks daily. I am always learning from my students, who love to write in Google Docs, make science presentations in Google Slides, experiment with STEM challenges, design online graphs, and dig deeper into math. Together we are learning to be tolerant of each other's differences and celebrate our uniqueness.
Written and received many grants including 11 Brock Magiscopes, incubator, 26 HP Netbooks, weather station, software, and white boards. Farm Bureau Teacher of the Year, presenter at Michigan Reading Association Conference.
I graduated from Central Michigan University (where our two children now attend), with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a major in English and minors in math and journalism. I am currently enrolled in an intense 14-day year-long Intel Math collaborative class!
Utilizing my journalism minor and my love of photography, I am also a part-time photographer :) Like me on FB as UpNorth MI Photography and view my work at: www.upnorthmiphotography.com.
