TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for twenty-three years. I have taught fifth grade, media 1st-5th, and fourth grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach fifth grade social studies and ELA. I teach American History from pre-history to the Spanish American War. I think language arts skills should be integrated into Social Studies content. I believe so strongly in this, that every ELA standard I teach is integrated into my social studies content. I am a facilitator of learning. I create learning experiences for my students and guide them through a variety of activities to reach our goals. I do NOT lecture. You would find me sharing stories with my students, and then bombarding them with books, articles, websites, etc. to immerse ourselves in the topic.
