I am a retired teacher of nearly 40 years' experience. I have co-written two teacher handbooks as well as various other educational publications. I am director of The Values and Visions Foundation, a UK-registered educational charity.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Sally Burns is an educator, trainer, author and researcher. She has been working in education for almost forty years, teaching, managing, designing curriculum, consulting and facilitating training in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, in private, state and international establishments in Oman, UK and Sudan. For seven years she ran her own educational consultancy specialising in all aspects of equal opportunities training, resources and research. Sally also worked for three years promoting children’s rights for Plant yng Nghymru/Children in Wales. Sally is passionate about languages, intercultural encounters, values and the environment. She speaks eight languages in addition to her native English and has lived or spent time in nearly fifty countries. Sally has run outdoor education programmes, exposing 12-14 year-olds to desert, marine and mountain environments in Oman, a service-learning programme for 13-year-olds in remote Tanzania and experiential learning visits to Hong Kong, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Her top three values are openness, integrity and kindness. Sally is co-author of Values and Visions: Engaging students, refreshing teachers (2019) and a certified V&V trainer. She contributed chapters to Warwick University’s Educational series: Values Education and Cultural Diversity (2000), The Omani ELT Symphony: Maintaining Linguistic and Socio-Cultural Equilibrium (2012) and Oman Revealed: International Perspectives (2016) as well as writing numerous education articles. Sally lived and worked in Oman for over twenty-one years. She is now based in France writing and working on Values and Visions.
