I am currently in my second year working as an AVID tutor in which I work with high school students and provide them with the resources and assistance to tap into their potential and strengthen their skills so that they may eventually use those newly strengthened skills throughout their college experience. Though I am still gaining a higher education to become an educator, I have spent the last four years assisting teachers and coordinators with curriculum, mentoring students, and having the opportunity to understand the role of being an educator.
As an aspiring educator, I make sure the students I interact with understand that just like them I am a student and understand the expectations and work that is asked of them. I specifically focus on providing scholarship information for the students and teaching them how to find these types of resources on their own. I act as a mentor toward students, making it a habit to check on their academic success and using that as a base to help them set goals for themselves.

I am the eldest of three children and the first in my family to attend college. I am an aspiring writer as well as an aspiring educator working to give back to the community that gave so much to me in my youth. I was inspired by two educators I had during my high school experience and am honored to say that I currently work along side one of those important people in my life that continues to inspire me.
