TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After earning my multiple subject credential in 2008, I was a long-term substitute for a few years and worked very steadily doing so. I taught at a K-12 charter school (homeschool/independent study) for the first few years of my career. I have been teaching kindergarten for the past 7 years, and LOVE it!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach with explicit, direct instruction in many cases. I love incorporating art and writing in pretty much all we do in class. I have recently started incorporating more music in my classroom. I have discovered that there is never enough music in kindergarten. I find myself making up songs on the spot to teach a concept or get my students' attention. If it is fun and new standards-based, I will try it!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

It is an honor to work with the students and staff that I do. I am a Liebster Award recipient! I also have received the "One Lovely Blog" award! I hold a certificate in Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI).

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated in 2007 from California State University Stanislaus in 2008 with a B.A. in Child Development. I received my Multiple Subject Credential in 2008 from the same school. I continue to take courses through various schools, as I find it important to value my own education along with my students' education.
