I've been teaching middle school science for the past twenty years in several different states. I have been active in numerous professional development opportunities for teachers such as the K-12 Science Alliance and IQUEST with CSUSM. I've presented at several of our CSTA teacher conferences on science and for the past 12 twelve years, I have coached Science Olympiad.
I am a firm believer in keeping abreast of new technologies and new strategies to engage learners. Students learn best by doing, and even better when they are allowed some freedom to explore topics that interest them. I provide activities for my students that can tap into their particular intelligences.
I've been Teacher of the Year at each of the three middle schools where I've taught and I have received several grants for science enrichment.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University and a Professional Diploma in Education from the University of Hawaii.
