I have enjoyed teaching early childhood education for 29 years . I have had the privilege of serving as a grade level team leader and mentoring student teachers at the graduate and undergraduate level. I have also worked closely with individual students and small groups in after school reading programs. During the summer months, I have tutored students using remedial strategies in many areas such as phonemic awareness, phonics and comprehension. I have always been passionate about helping students who struggle with reading.
My teaching style is hands-on incorporated with music, movement and rhyme. When I teach I strive to meet the needs of all students visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. Differentiating instruction is a crucial part of my teaching program. I believe that all students can succeed in learning if they are given the proper tools and opportunity.
