I am a special education teacher that works with low language Deaf students. My staff have been asking me to start posting some of the drawings I do with my students online so that others would have access. This is my attempt :) I am happy to draw specific things that are needed in your classroom if you give me examples of what you need. It is important to note that there is a purpose behind these illustrations. They are not meant to be like "Boardmaker" - they are supposed to be specific in just that the student can recognise themselves in the picture but not so specific they get bogged down with the detail (believe me this happens). A quick sketch of what they look like as a stick figure and how you want them to participate in an activity or class is essential. If you have questions, please feel free to ask!
I believe very strongly in cooperative learning with all types of students. This especially works well with our ELL populations as well as Special Education Students.
I have been awarded continuing education classes in School Psychology which I hope to be taking advantage of in the near future.
I am a graduate of a college that specialises in Deafness. I am a fluent American Sign Language practitioner and have degrees in Reading, English, Special Education, and a few other things here and there :).
I am a male teacher of primary grades. I currently teach deaf students but have taught general education students as well. (and yes, the image that is used as my profile picture is a painting I painted) These strategies work will with: *ELL (or ESL) students *Special Education *Students with Low or no useable language skills *Deaf Students *Autistic students *Children who have high language skills but anger issues as a way to assist them "de-escalate" *Very young children
