“The test of a good teacher is not how many questions he can ask his pupils that they will answer readily, but how many questions he inspires them to ask him which he finds it hard to answer”

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I started teaching in Baltimore City in 2007, taught there three years, before following my husband to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, where I've taught now for seven years, all at the high school level. I've taught every grade, created new curricula, taught online courses, and served as department head.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in a conversational approach, one centered on deeper questioning. Yet, when it comes to reading, I believe in teaching strategies that improve student close reading while they are in the act. The same goes for writing. I believe it is best to write with my students, to teach them strategies along the way, rather than after the writing is over.
