Teacher of English and Language Arts for 23 years. Also, a published author and web developer.
I like to think of myself as an "edutainer". I'm an educator who likes to be entertaining, as well. This way I can teach the students, but keep their interest levels peaked, as well. Many of my products go off the well-worn path of what one may expect from a typical unit or lesson of study. I create some "out there" ideas; but it's these type of ideas that grasp my student's attention and invigorate their motivation and passion for learning. While my products include Anchor Core Standards addressed, many of my products focus more on 21st Century Skills our students will need to succeed. The world that many educational assignments, etc. which is given to students does not exist anymore. Therefore, one must be ready for some "out there" ideas with many of my products. The skills many of my products focus on include: -Critical thinking/problem solving -Collaboration -Agility/adaptability -Initiative/entrepreneurship -Effective communication -Accessing/analyzing information -Curiosity and imagination In my mind, I'm far more inspired to meet these skills within my creations over an endless array of educational strands. Why? Because for my students to have a fighting chance in the world which awaits them, these are what they'll need.
