I teach general science (earth/space, chemistry/physics, and life science), study skills, and collaboration classes to grades 5-7 at a wonderful school in Massachusetts. I have previously taught technology/engineering to grades 4-8. I am certified to teach science grades 1-8, technology/engineering grades 1-12, and have mastered tests for Health/Family Consumer Science grades 1-12. I love coaching MS basketball as well!
I teach in various styles and with various media to meet the needs of all learners. I use a variety of readings, interactive elements, videos, images, hands on labs, projects, demonstrations, skits, etc. to teach a concept. If I can teach it in a way that is fun, then we are exploring it! I strive to engage all students and help them to develop a love of learning and a love of science. I teach life skills and teach the whole child using the Responsive Classroom approach. When I see students truly engaged, when I hear laughter, excitement, and awe, when I notice students gaining a new perspective, then I know we are on the right track.
