I have taught in very different demographic areas starting in Riverton, UT and now in Houston, TX. Because of this change, I have seen students who have all the money in the world and students who are homeless. Regardless of their place in life, I have learned that all students need a place to feel safe and all students have a striving to learn, even if it is buried deep, even if it is not what you expect.
I like to take pieces of literature and follow teach it by showing them every single side and opinion of it through text to text, text to world, and text to self. I have learned it shows students how unique literature can be regardless of its content. I like to take two abstract things and combine them and show them how fun learning can be. I am also known as "Momma Weed" to my students and focus on fostering positive relationships with all of my kiddos.
