TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 11th year of teaching. I spent 6 years teaching second grade, 2 years teaching fifth grade and 1 year in fourth grade at Hillcrest Elementary School. I recently started my 2nd year teaching 6th Grade.

Direct instruction, small group, centers/stations, mini-lessons, hands-on, active engagement and high energy

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Carlsbad Character Counts Award, nominated by my Staff at Hillcrest Elementary School. Carlsbad's Top 40 Under 40 - 2015. Nominated by a fellow teacher that I taught with.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading from New Mexico State University in 2004. I received a TESOL endorsement from Eastern New Mexico State University in 2006. I later worked on completing a Master of Arts in Education in 2009. In 2014 I became recognized as a Level III teacher by the State of New Mexico. I am currently working on my plus 15 hours above my masters.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My husband and I have been married for 7 years, and we have a son who is just turned three and are very close with our niece, who is in the second grade. My hobbies include traveling to rodeos for the kids, my husband or myself. As a family we love to ride horses, and we spend a great deal of time working and helping on the ranch my husband runs, about forty-five minutes from town, between Carlsbad and Artesia.
