TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Regarding my educational experience, I attended the University of Akron (Honors College) from 2009 until 2014. Throughout my higher education experience, I received extensive training in the visual arts, graphic arts, and education as a whole. I completed my student teaching experience within the Canton Local Schools district. I then graduated in May 2014 with Summa Cum Laude recognition, and received my Bachelors degree in Visual Arts Education and PreK-12 Ohio licensure. Currently, I am entering my 5th year as a middle school teacher for Alliance City Schools. I am also the acting Visual Arts Department Head for the district, teach private art lessons, and provide art-based classes for our after-school programs, including Art Club once a week. Outside of school, I am a free-lance graphic designer.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is very student-centered, but also very academic. I provide my students with hands-on, fun, and engaging learning experiences while also connecting the content to real-life, relevant applications. Students learn the importance of the elements of art and principles of design, but are having too much fun to even realize they are learning. :)
