TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have more than 20 years of experience in the school system working with students and families. I taught Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students for 8 years in both self-contained and mainstream settings. For the last 16 years, I have been a counselor serving Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing and Vision-Impaired students from birth to post high school. This position has included creating and implementing lesson plans and behavior plans and consulting with teachers and families. I have worked part-time as a teacher in adult education and I am currently working part-time as an Infant Toddler Development Specialist for Florida's Early Intervention Program.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Educators are facilitators. I believe it is not our job to spoon feed information to students, but to spark their curiosity and interact with their intellect. It is our job to give them the tools for deep thought. The relationship you have with your students has to by one of trust and caring. Children of all ages know when you truly care about them. With caring, kindness and discipline, children can grow into productive, caring and kind adults.
