At the beginning of my teaching career I taught students in grades K-5, ESE and general education. I served as a resource/VE teacher. I co-taught with general education teachers to meet the needs of all learners in inclusion classrooms. My main role was to differentiated ELA and Math instruction. After this I transitioned to teaching exceptional middle and high school students at a secondary ESE school. I differentiated instruction to meet students' needs, ranging from K-12 grade, and taught academics, independent living skills, social/emotional skills, and vocational skills. I now serve as the Assistant Principal at the secondary ESE school and I LOVE my job. I am largely involved in instruction and curriculum - partly because I found that I missed TEACHING. My love for differentiation and ESE (exceptional student education) encouraged me to pursue Wholesome Learning. I have found that there is a great need for resources, differentiation, and practical assistance for students at the elementary, middle school, high school, and post secondary setting.
During my time in college my dearest professor told me that "the ones doing the talking are the ones doing the thinking." I took this to heart. I learned through direct experience that the ones who are DOING things are LEARNING things - whether in words and/or actions. I am a big advocate for hands-on and project-based learning. I believe learning should be applicable and always lead to a bigger purpose that simply learning for the moment. I also know there is not enough time in the day. With a goal to make such a positive impact, educators continually need high quality products that are able to be implemented in a timely manner. I keep these factors in mind when I create my TPT products.
While I served as a VE teacher my school elected me as teacher of the year. I was also awarded the Inclusionary Team of the year award with one of my co-teaches by the Council for Exceptional Children.
I hold a BA and Masters in Exceptional Student Education. I also have a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management. My certifications and endorsements include: Autism Reading ELL Math 6-9 Elementary Education ESE K-12
