I have taught 4th and 5th grade, creating and cobbling together 3/4 of the writing and science curriculum that I used in the 5th grade. I have tutored students from 3rd grade through college (and a few non-traditional students as well). I am also a professional Indie Author who spends many hours every week reading and researching the newest trends in teaching and in the publishing world.
My teaching style tends to grow and change with the needs of the students within my classroom. I have some experience in Brain Based Learning and, as such, do my best to remember that each individual student has specific needs. I know we can't meet every need of every student every second of every day, but I can do my best to make sure they all learn the information required of them. Sometimes that means I need to lecture, and sometimes it means I need to throw blocks on the floor randomly (part of a vocabulary lesson! They ALL remembered it months later)
My blog has been honored with nominations for awards. However, I have not been awarded anything in the teaching sector as I have only been in class full time one year. The rest of my time has been spent tutoring, substituting, and volunteering to help other teachers and students in their particular needs. Let me help you?
