I have 26 years of experience teaching first and second grades in addition to teaching and learning from numerous student teachers from various local universities. I feel like I am the luckiest person in the world because I love my job, my colleagues, and learning with some great students!
My teaching style is very entertaining , engaging, and fun! I much prefer being more of a facilitator rather than Charlie Brown's "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" teacher. I truly believe children need to teach and learn from each other so I use many of the Whole Brain Teaching Strategies in my classroom.
I have been honored by my educational colleagues with various awards such as: Teacher of the Year( 3 times), Classroom Teacher of the Year( local educational union), local TV station's Teacher of the Week, and Junior Achievement Middle Tennessee Teacher of the Year.
B.S. in Elementary Education
I am happily married and the mother of two children who are of college age. My father and mother are both educators and so I suppose it is in my genes that I am also an educator.
