TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for over 14 years and I truly love what I do. I have a Specialist degree in Primary Education and although I am a K-5 teacher, I enjoy teaching the younger grades most. I am currently teaching Kindergarten.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I guess if I would have to summarize my teaching style in one word I would say easygoing. I am big on structure and routine but when it comes to how I interact with my students, I like to make school a second home for them, and so I am very laid-back. Sometimes teachers peek into my room to see what all the noise is about. If we're not re-enacting a favourite story, it's usually because we're laughing too hard.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Self proclaimed awards: Mom-of-the-Year Teacher-of-the-Year Writer-of-the-Year :)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from York University, what seems like a million years ago, with a B.A. and B.Ed. I majored in Psychology - what a fascinating field! I continued to advance my career in Education by getting my first Specialist in Primary Education (who can resist those little ones, dirty fingers and all). I continued to take more university courses (University of Toronto, Drake University) until I finally discovered I knew everything I needed to know, and that's where I stand today (kidding of course).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I'm a lucky mom of two beautiful children who keep me pretty busy. Between that and teaching full time I have very little time to myself (not complaining). One of my passions is writing and I am in the process of publishing some of my work. I also have a personal blog. Please feel free to visit me there - www.wordsonalimb.com. Thank you for stopping by!
