TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been working as an educator for the last 16 years. I am currently a 4th grade teacher at Burton Elementary School. During my career, I have taught grades k-6.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My focus is.....teaching beyond the test!! I have found that many students have become very skilled at taking tests, but are unable to think independantly beyond that....I am to make sure that students leaving my class can!! I am pretty straight forward in the classroom. I enjoy taking the old and making it new. I achieve this through creating or tweaking materials to meet my student's needs.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have had the opportunity to work as a k-6 teacher, literacy coordinator (ELA/ELD materials & assessments), science specialist and professional development provider (reading/writing), Data Team Lead.
