Since 1996, I have taught children in a variety of settings. I've spent time as a Home Educator for a private family, a Preschool Teacher in a co-teaching environment at at private school, a self-contained Pre-K teacher in a Church program, a Director of a Preschool Church Program with ages 1 year through Kindergarten, a public school Pre-K teacher, 1st grade teacher, 8th grade ELA, 9th grade ELA, and 10th grade ELA, and a CTE teacher. I have also spent a few years in Administration. Currently, I am the Secondary Instructional Specialist for the best little rural district in Texas! I am the mother of 2 wonderful boys, an awesome daughter and a great son-in-love. My husband is a jewel and most supportive of my education obsession!
Here is what I believe about learning: People learn when they are motivated. People are motivated when they have choice and choose to do something. People make a voluntary choice based on interest. People are interested in something they enjoy. Learning will take place when students enjoy the process! Here is what I believe about discipline: The root word of discipline is "disciple", which means TO TEACH. I believe the goal of behavior management is to teach the child/person proper behavior in a certain scenario through ownership of actions and respect. The side effect of doing this the loving/teaching way is a positive learning environment where trust and growth can and will take place.
