I have taught in Putnam County, NY for the past 13 years. In that time I have worked on or designed curriculum from scratch, and helped expand existing course offerings. Classes taught include, AP World History (11 years experience), Global Studies 1 and 2, US History, AP US History (3 years) Military History, Latin American Studies, Film History, Economics, Participation in Government, and Public Speaking. I also have experience in stage management and theater production, and built a Model United Nations club from the ground up. Our program is one of the largest and most successful in the region with over 50 students travelling to 9 conferences per year.
I try to vary what I do to fit the classroom environment I am in. My favorite lessons are ones that involve games or large simulations that really engage students in their learning. I make an effort to lecture as little as possible and tie in any notes or materials with real world examples or readings. I like telling stories, and I like to help students tell their own.
