ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was raised in Florida’s sun and surf. Often I feel like I have salt water running through my veins, since I need to visit the ocean at least once a year. After college I taught high school art in Florida and married. In several years we moved to Colorado. This move fulfilled a dream to live in close proximity to the mountains, since during college I worked summers in Yellowstone National Park. For the past 30 years I taught elementary and middle school art and technology. In 2008 I retired, to pursue my passion for travel. I still substitute teach to fund my world adventures. I have been to 54 countries and all 7 continents. My formal education includes a degree in art education with advanced degrees in Computer Education, and Special education. I can also educate young people in the elementary classroom and in middle school science. My personal goals include producing art and enhancing my computer skills. My achievements include publishing three art lessons in national magazines. Other achievements include two Fulbright scholarships, three times on the district art curriculum committee, and computer staff development teacher. Even with all these duties I set aside time for my passions which include painting, photography, world travel and volunteering for varied environmental groups. My original media was acrylic, but after college my interests turned to pencil drawing. While teaching high school, my students persuaded me to pursue watercolor. The media was so challenging that I continue to devote most of my artistic endeavors to this media. World travel and working with injured and abandoned wild and domestic animals triggered a passion for photography.
