TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am second year teacher who is happy to have survived her first year. I am finally organized enough to start my TPT journey! :) I teach 11th grade American Literature and Journalism, along with advising the school newspaper. I will also be teaching a 10th grade remedial/test-prep course next semester. I have a bit of other experience with freshmen English, AP Lit, and 7th/8th grade Language Arts.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am ALL about student engagement. I will do whatever it takes to keep those kiddos learning, which often includes, but is not limited to: running/jumping/doing who knows what around the room, making a fool of myself, cracking lame, nerdy English jokes and always incorporating puns and memes into my lessons, getting incredibly enthusiastic about what I am teaching, creating nicknames for all of my cherished American authors...the list goes on. I reel my students in with my ridiculousness and creativity, and then I challenge them to reach their maximum potential. I have incredibly high expectations for my students, and they know it! It's no secret that Miss G's class is a lot of hard work. But that NEVER means that we can't have fun. In summary, my teaching philosophy could be described as "tricking my students into learning." I live for the moments when they're having so much fun that they forget they're even learning. Sometimes, I even laugh and tell them, "Gotcha! Haha! Made ya learn!" :)
