Tina has 20 years of teaching experience specializing in writing and language arts. In 2000, she published the book, Writing for Excellence, as a guide for teachers to use Guided Writing strategies. She later released student workbooks for grades 1-8 and an assessment package (Amazon, Barnes and Noble). Tina has worked in classrooms from grades 1-8 as well as held the position of District Writing Teacher for nearly two years in her district. Tina has presented her writing strategies throughout the United States at dozens of conferences including CRA (California Reading Association) and CABE (California Association of Bilingual Education). Tina's comprehensive program is used in thousands of schools across the country and has been adopted by entire counties in California and Texas. In addition, Tina Randolph Bernard authored the novel, We All Fall Down (currently on Amazon).
Tina believes in student collaboration and guided strategies from the teacher. This wave is common today with Common Core, and is the basis for the Writing for Excellence program as well as all of her writing lessons and templates. Tina believes that students should write together, share ideas, and complete the writing process with a partner or group until they feel confident of their skills.
Tina has received several awards including Teacher of the Year in her district and Language Arts Teaching Award from the Greater San Diego Reading Association.
Tina has her Masters Degree in Education from San Diego State University. She holds a current BCLAD credential and an administrative credential (both from San Diego State University).
