I taught 4th grade for 4 years, 2014-2018. Three of those years I was the English side of a Chinese immersion program. Now I stay home with my little nugget!
Student lead learning! I believe that students should be in charge of their learning. I do a whole group lessons, but turn a lot of the time over to the kids to explore their learning in small groups, partners, or alone. I am EXTREMELY organized in my lessons and classroom guidance. My students have the freedom to work at their own pace with the subject matter. I want my students to always feel comfortable questioning their learning and abilities. It is important to me that my kiddos know they are safe in my classroom to learn and grow!
I was made my team lead my first year! It was an honor and joy to lead my team all four of my years. In my last year I was made a teacher mentor.
I think I started preparing to be a teacher when I was in third grade. I had the best teacher that year named Mrs. Bandley. She made learning fun and enjoyable. All I knew was that I had to be her when I grew up. After high school I went to Utah Valley University to get my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and minor in history!
Sometimes to prove my intelligence to my students I answer my own questions in my question!
