I have a diverse background in both middle and high school English education. I have taught ELA for grades 6-12 and possess a BA in English and an M.Ed in Educational Leadership/Technology. I have led both faculty and district-wide professional development on successful classroom management, data analysis/use, and engagement strategies and techniques.
I prefer a student-centered curriculum. My style is organized chaos. No classroom of learning students should be completely silent all the time. Students have the right to move, speak up, and be engaged in a lesson. I prefer the "try and see" approach to teaching and learning. My students became risk-takers by watching me test theory, fail, and try again.
I am a member of the Virginia Teachers of English, Sigma Tau Delta (International English Honor Society), WELV (Women Education Leaders of Virginia, and Kappa Delta Pi (International Honor Society in Education). I was publicly listed on the Dean's List at VSU all four years, and also the Chancellor's List both years as an M. Ed student. I am also a 2002-2004 U.S. All American Scholar Recipient.
Undergraduate Degree Virginia State University, 2005, BA English/Education Graduate Degree Strayer University, 2007, M. Ed Education Administration/Technology
