Teaching is something I hold very dear to my heart. It is not just a profession but my passion, and has been since I was a little girl. During my years educating students, I have been privileged to work with many different grades and students. I have worked in all elementary grades K-5 teaching most subject areas, and have also had very rewarding experiences with working with students with disabilities of various kinds. I believe that as educators we not only teach our students, but learn from them as well. My students foster my love of learning each day, and help me to consistently reinvent my teaching styles, activities, and methods. Being a teacher allows me to change the lives of my students by giving them a love of learning, excitement for new ideas, and a curiosity about the world around them that will help them to become lifelong learners.
My teaching style varies. I design my objectives based on the core content standards and the needs of my students. However, I also seek to meet these standards in a creative and fun way. I believe in a hands-on approach to learning. After all, if we involve our students in their learning process, these skills will soar way beyond the classroom. I teach my students the material they need to know, but also skills that they can use in the future to apply the material I am teaching and extend their learning. I believe in differentiating my instruction for each of my students and challenging them to reach for the stars.
