Grade 1 teacher, reading recovery specialist and literacy mentor in a francophone school. Core French, and early French Immersion (grade 1) have also been part of my 32 year awesome career. I love my life as a retired (I prefer "rewired") teacher, but I cannot seem to put to rest my passion to teach children to read and write. It does not help that my daughter is an awesome grade one teacher in the school where I last taught! As a result, I believe I might have found my niche in creating the resources that I would have loved to have the time to create when I was teaching. How special that my daughter lets me test some of these products with her students!
I am a very high energy person and I need to keep my students active as well! I need them to laugh and to have fun learning. Everything has to be integrated so that students can maximize on my teaching and so that several outcomes can be integrated in one activity. You will certainly witness this philosophy in my products "Une comptine dans mon coeur", where high frequency words with a common sound will be found not only in the comptine but in numerous reading, writing and math activities. And...celebrate a child's success often, especially in front of others!
The other day, I substituted in a classroom where the teacher I replaced was an ex-student. A little girl came up to me and said "Our teacher said that you are the reason she became a teacher." An honor, for sure!
In addition to my bachelor's degree and my education degree, I have been trained as a "reading recovery" teacher . This training has been by far the most valuable and is reflected in my TPT products!
When I am not volunteering in my daughter's grade one classroom or happily creating a TPT product, I might be spending time with my husband, my daughter and my awesome friends. Physical activity is a big part of my daily life and most days, I will fit in two of these activities: yoga, running, pickleball, kayak, snowshoeing, skating or cross-country skiing! Life is GOOD!
