I taught English as a Second Language for over ten years to students ranging from 3 to 83, in pre-schools, elementary schools, institutes and universities. My students were kids, students, housewives, businessmen, nannies, tourists, and new American citizens. I have created curriculum and chosen textbooks for all levels, including pronunciation, grammar, reading, writing and conversation.
I believe that learning another language requires actually speaking the language, mistakes and all. So many language classes focus only on grammar and writing, but leave learners tongue-tied when confronted with a native speaker. In my classes, I encourage the students to speak more than I do. With this in mind, my materials are mainly geared toward pair and group practice, rather than teacher-class question-answer sessions.

I am a wholehearted proponent of early second language immersion education. That is why I joined a small group that sought to bring dual-language education to Austin Independent School district. We have been growing and strengthening the program for six years. Today, the district utilizes one or two-way DL in all their elementary programs and are transitioning middle and high school.
