Mini-Golf Math Geometry Project: Mastering Angle Measurement & Protractors

Put your students' geometry and measurement skills to the test with this hands-on Mini-Golf Course Design Challenge! This project-based learning (PBL) activity transforms students into course architects who must use protractors, straightedges, and rulers to draft a functional, mathematically precise 9-hole mini-golf course on graph paper. Instead of solving isolated, abstract textbook problems, students must manipulate line structures and calculate paths of motion, reinforcing geometric standar

45 Minute easy elementary art project/3D Shapes Drawing

The PowerPoint can be used to guide students in drawing their own 3D cake in the style of Wayne Thiebaud. This project is low effort with big results. The PowerPoint gives students step-by-step directions and visuals, so you can monitor their progress as you click through each slide. (Download preview to see a sample slide.) Students are reinforced with vocabulary words such as oval, vertical lines, and parallel lines. Once they have their cake drawn, any media can be used to add color - pas

This art-integration project is designed to give 3rd graders practice in creating shapes with different attributes (ie parallel lines, quadrilaterals, shapes with right angles, etc). Students also practice working with warm and cool colors. The finished product is a bright design of shapes over a cool background. This can be done in pastel, water color, crayon, marker, etc. The project meets standard CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.G.A.1 and creates a meaningful and emotional connection to the content.

This project integrates the arts with symmetry and congruent shapes in a rigorous and relevant way. This can be done as a homework project or in class. There are 2 versions included (I updated the original to be more Common Core focused). The task includes artistic practice with line of symmetry, parallel lines, perpendicular lines and real life examples of symmetry. This works well with 3rd-5th graders.

This Op Art lesson is based on positive and negative space, organic shapes, and contour and parallel lines. (The Op Art Presentation has the vocabulary for this lesson.) All types of students find success with this lesson. Great lesson for Bridget Riley or Victor Vasarely. Op Art is a great arts integration or STEAM project for math and art. An extension activity based on the National Art Standard "create" has been added. Could be used for advanced students, or students who finish early. STE

This is an exceptional review activity for 4th graders to address geometry standards 4.G.1 and 4.G.2. This could also easily be adapted to address 3rd-6th grade geometry standards. Essentially students use a ruler and follow along as the teacher reviews ideas such as right angles, types of triangles, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, parallelograms, acute and obtuse angles and so forth. After creating the lines and segments, students use oil pastels (or crayons, paint, etc) to color in the d
