Partial Sums Algorithm
This resource was created to supplement the second grade CCSS Everyday Math Series.
I use this handout to introduce the partial sums algorithm to my students’ parents. It includes a look at the process step by step with color-coded support, a video tutorial linked as a QR code, and a few practice problems to complete with the tutorial.
I have also taught this lesson using the flipped classroom model and assigned this resource as homework the night before the lesson.

I believe in learning through making, discovery and personal projects. Children learn best when they are invested in what they are learning and discovering for themselves. This computer science course lets children discover computer science concepts for themselves. Children try to crack codes and come up with their own cyphers. Long Division - Music Video - Math Song
"The Great Divide" is a four minute, karaoke style music video, that students can sing along with to help learn the long division algorithm. I wrote this song a few years ago based on the "Dad, Mom, Sister, Brother" mnemonic. The song uses the characters, in the context of a long division problem.
