4 pages of math activities that involve the use of M&Ms. I bought small individual packs or buy a big bag and put into tiny paper cups. You can edit the document to use Fruit Loops or Skittles. The kids had a blast with this. They use the M&Ms to plot points on a coordinate graph and solve a riddle. M&Ms are uses as variables. Word problems are based on the nutritional value of the M&Ms. It is a very HANDS-ON and visual activity.
This math activity integrates both math and art. Students create a "fraction flower," with a fraction (in simplest form) as the flower's center. On the surrounding petals, students find three different equivalent fractions and both the percentand decimal conversion of the center fraction. Although it is an easy art project, it covers multiple state standards. It looks great on the wall for Back to School Nights or Open Houses!

What a fun way to practice converting between decimals, fractions and percentages!! Students compete in a game of Battleship.
Directions:
Students pair up (one getting board A, one getting board B)
The questions on Board A have answers on the bottom of board B (and vice-versa). Students take turns solving a problem and telling their partner an answer. If the answer is on the ship, its a hit! If the answer is around the ship (in the water), its a miss! The first person to sink their opp

This quiz was created to give to my fifth grade students. It assesses students' knowledge of adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. It always assess GCF, LCM, simplifying fractions, and changing from mixed to improper, and improper to mixed numbers. It is designed to serve as a check up/quiz to see where students need support. It comes as a word document so that allows you to add on if you prefer it as a test or have a specific problem in mind!
This practice includes review of converting decimals, percents, and fractions with a practice table that is "missing" information.
Students will need to use the rules (plus some advanced thought) to convert between the different types of numbers to fill in the missing cells.
A quiz based on the grade 5, unit 5 Everyday Math program for Equivalent Fractions, Comparing & Ordering, and Fraction & Decimal Equivalents. There is also a review sheet for students to fill out prior to the quiz for notes.
This project is a great addition to any unit involving percent, decimal, and fraction conversions. You can add in pre-determined numbers for low students and have higher level students create their own percentages. I love that is adds an element of creativity and art to math!
