Balloons Over Broadway- The History behind the Macy's Thankgiving Day Parade

Creativity and history combined into one great week long unit. This unit was inspired by the book Balloons Above Broadway by Melissa Sweet. This book is a William Allan White book nominee this year. Students will learn about Tony Sarg, the creator behind the balloon floats used at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. They will research the history of the parade from 1924 until today.
