TTQ / Do Now List

At the beginning of every unit students will get a new TTQ sheet that I photocopy in a bright color. This is where students will record their Do Now at the beginning of class and will be collected at the end of each unit. TTQ stands for Today's Thinking Question and while students are reviewing and previewing information I can be taking care of paperwork / attendance and other classroom logistics. It is also great for keeping track of student learning as a formative assessment.

These are the data collection sheets that I use on a weekly basis in my classroom during small groups. Keep in mind this is the paid version, so you will be able to go in and type your goals and comments! These sheets have been a game changer for me! I used to collect IEP data here and there whenever I had extra time, but over the last two years I have committed to a block of time everyday for what my class calls "IEP Small Groups". This is a sheet that you can give to students when they do not complete their homework. It allows the student to reflect on why they did not do the assignment, what they will do next time and allows them to work on something while other students are turning in their work or going over the answers. It has drastically increased the amount of completed homework in my 6th grade classroom. I keep them on file to show parents later on, to make them aware that their student knows how much they are effe

Increase your students' accountability for class discussion and other forms of participation with the Teacher's Random Student-Name Generator. It's an excellent way to get quiet students to participate more in discussions. It is ideal for classes which have become all too accustomed to waiting f

We had random (secret) reward times once a week where we took the students outside for an extra 20 min. recess and a little treat. We wanted students to strive to earn these rewards and think more about behavior choices. We found that our numbers did in fact increase each week. The card was handed out right at the time of the wee
