Students will create a map of their own town using parallel and transversal streets. They will then be required to locate specific destinations at the locations of special angle pairs, like a gas station and a restaurant at alternate exterior angles. This is a pretty simple project that allows students to show their knowledge and show some creativity in the creation of their city. A Google Docs version is linked in the PDF and is Editable.

Linear Equations Project: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

Preview includes directions. Actual product includes directions, sample project, student worksheet and rubric. This project asks students to create a picture using linear equations on a graph. Students will then be expected to give the equation for each line drawn as well as determine (and justify) if any lines are parallel and perpendicular. This is a great chance to allow students to showcase their creativity. Works well as a solo or collaborative assignment.

This activity would be a great way to assess students' understanding of angle pair relationships formed when two parallel lines are cut by a transversal. Here is how I use the activity in my classroom:I print copies of the game board. I put students in groups of 2, so you will want enough copies for each group. I place the game board in a clear protective sleeve so students can write/erase with a dry-erase marker. Each student will need a dry-erase marker. They can’t have the same color as the pe
