This is a great resource for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade teachers. This activity can be used as a group activity, partner activity, independent practice, or it can be used as a quiz. In the left column, students write a multiplication story (word problem) that represents the equation. This is a short lesson to review improper fractions and mixed numbers, and then to use those numbers in division problems. I used the context of making the keys of a marimba (xylophone-like instrument) to allow students to work through these problems. The lesson includes links to videos of children playing marimbas, a warm-up, the lesson, and an exit ticket question. This can also be used as a formative assessment to help determine students' abilities with these topics.

Students struggle with fraction, decimal, percent conversion and scientific notation. In my school for 7th grade, we do a daily chart. I create a book and everyday we complete the chart. The number of the day matches with the number of days we have been in school. I then make up a fraction, decimal, percent, and scientific notation and we practice converting them and ordering them. They ace this by the end of the year from all of the daily practice!
