Doing cryptography with matrices is always fun! I used this as a quiz -- students had to decode the message "Once upon a time in a far away land..." and then for extra credit they get to finish the sentence. I got some really fun endings and students were excited when they decoded the message correctly. I've attached my work to show how I originally encoded the matrix. This could easily be modified to be turned into a project or another activity.
