Magnet Maze STRUCTURED STEM PROJECT with ASSESSMENT Rubrics, Daily Journal

Students design and build a magnetic maze while learning how magnetic forces can move objects without direct contact. This structured STEM challenge walks students through the engineering design process from planning to testing and redesign. Increase the understanding of magnetism with this easy-prep Magnetic Mazes engineering project, aligned with MS-PS2-3 and MS-PS2-5 standards. This interactive and fun activity not only allows students to explore magnetic fields but also adds structure and

Particle Motion Project-Based Assessment (MS-PS1-4)Popcorn Balloon InvestigationLooking for an engaging, hands-on way to assess student understanding of particle motion and thermal energy? This project-based assessment uses the high-interest Popcorn Balloon Investigation to help students model and explain how adding thermal energy affects particle motion and causes matter to change. In this investigation, students must create a particle-level model to explain what is happening inside the ball

Electricity & Magnetism 3D Research Project Cube | Physical Science Activity

Bring hands-on inquiry and real scientific thinking to your electricity unit with this Electricity & Magnetism 3D Research Project Cube, a student-driven activity designed for upper elementary and middle school science classrooms. Students conduct research on a concept related to electricity and magnetism — such as electric circuits, magnetic fields, electromagnets, or energy transfer — and synthesize their findings on a three-dimensional cube that makes complex ideas visual and memorable. Perfe

Newton's 2nd Law and Acceleration Hands-On Investigation and Lab

Description: Are you teaching your students about forces and motion? If so, this investigation is a fun hands-on way to explore Newton's second law. And, it is the third investigation in a car racing series on forces and motion. In the ACCELERATION 500, students will prove Newton’s second law of motion is correct. Students will use a toy car, pennies/weights, and a straw or Hot Wheel launcher to show how the mass of an object affects its motion. This investigation is designed to be student-driv

States of Matter webquest | Science lesson with prezi and activities

This activity encourages students to dig deeper into the states of matter with guided research. It promotes team work, critical thinking, note taking skills, and research skills. Students will collaborate to preform research and complete an online lab to make observations about solid, liquid, gases, and how they change. Together they will create a project to show what they have learned. This packet includes a guide for teachers, optional guided notes with 3 variants for differientiated instruct

This is a 2 page description/procedure/rubric for a Rube Goldberg project. I gave my class 2 full weeks to work on this. They are provided with minimal materials, the rest is gathered from home (recyclable materials, toys, etc..). A PowerPoint presenation accompanies the Rube Goldberg machine. My students LOVED doing this and they learned a lot about simple machines as well.
