The science of reading has taught us that to increase comprehension we need to build knowledge. I made these to help students read about animals in our knowledge-building unit about living creatures. I used them to read in a small group. They are mostly decodable but not completely. The information is interesting to students and most second graders can read them. For beginner readers I read it out loud. These can be used as a whole class activity or as a small group activity.
