Levels of Government Tree Map Cut and Paste Activity

This is a tree map where students cut, sort, and paste the words or phrases onto the map into the different levels of government: local, state, and federal. I have put my city and my state words/phrases. It's in a word document, so these names can be changed to be where ever you are teaching. This is a good formative assessment after a lesson on the levels of government.

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.

Easy foldable to help students organize note-taking on identifying minerals by their physical properties. Foldable contains two per page for convenience of use in an interactive notebook. Simply have the students cut out, fold along vertical line and cut the "flaps". Once the "Identification" part is pasted, you have an easy and interactive way for students to take notes and later quiz themselves for retention of information.
