Why does the educational field seem to think that Symbolism is an advanced concept? It really is not - just the academic language labeling it, I guess. This file takes the "advanced" out of the equation and makes common sense connections for students in grades 5 and up (with standards written at the 8th grade level), giving them another tool to improving their close reading skills.
