This activity combines instructional technology, paper crafts, and mathematics. Students create a foldable cube. Each face of the cube has a QR Code that links to either a fraction or to an instructional video. The students will make 2 cubes containing 10 different fraction problems. They scan each face of the cube with a QR Code reader of their choice to reveal the fraction. On an accompanying worksheet, the student writes down the fraction and then converts it to a decimal and a percent.
Understanding the fraction-decimal-percent conversions is an important skill in math. This cut & past activity has students matching fractions with their correct decimal andpercent equivalents.
Celebrate diversity and teach about the past in order to improve the future through this interdisciplinary math activity. All the math problems practice finding a percent of a whole or a fraction of a whole. The numbers are friendly enough so that no calculator should be needed for most students. Takes about 20 minutes.
This Percents, Fractions, & Decimals Conversion Foldable is a great resource for helping students organize the information they need to know for converting in their own words. This can be placed in a notebook or used as a stand alone study tool.
